Why has my tap limit been increased?
motusbank continues to investigate new innovative ways to add value and convenience to your banking experience. To help you, we have increased the Interac® Flash limits on your debit card to make it easier, faster, and safer to make a point-of-sale payment.
What are the new tap limits?
When using the contactless tap feature on your motusbank debit card, you’ll now be able to complete single purchases up to $250 without entering your PIN. You can make cumulative purchases to a maximum tap limit of $300.
Even with a cumulative tap limit, it seems like I’m always tapping to make purchases.
Why am I never asked for my PIN?
Every time you complete a chip and PIN transaction, your tap purchase counter resets to $0.00. So, if you occasionally alternate between the tap feature and using your PIN, that could be why you’re not being prompted to enter the PIN when you tap.
I’ve been told I can tap up to $250, so why are my tap payments not working?
A tap payment transaction can fail for a variety of reasons, including point-of-sale software, a defective terminal, or even human error. If a transaction fails, we recommend you retry at another location. If the problem persists, please contact our Member Service team at 1 (833) 696-6887.
What if I don’t want a tap limit that high? Can I go back to $100?
Unfortunately, you cannot adjust your card’s tap limit. However, you do have the option to remove the Interac® Flash tap feature entirely if you prefer. You may also reduce your daily point-of-sale and ABM limits. To explore these options, contact our Member Service team at 1 (833) 696-6887.
What should I do if someone uses my card without my knowledge?
This should be investigated by motusbank’s Fraud Team, as per our existing process. If your card is subject to unauthorized use, please report the incident to motusbank to begin the investigation.
