Banking alerts to help you manage your money

Banking alerts are key to making sure that you actually know what’s going on with your account. They help you avoid unnecessary fees, prevent fraud, and stay on top of your financial situation. Here’s everything you need to know about the alerts available to you, what they do, and how to set them up.

Available balance alert

This alert tells you when your account balance or available line of credit drops below a pre-set amount. The default amount is $100. All members get this alert automatically – you can change the pre-set amount, or turn the alert off, in mobile and online banking.

GIC renewal alert

This alert gives you a heads-up when your GIC is coming up for renewal, plus instructions for what to do next.

Note: If your GIC term is less than 30 days, you will get the alert 5 days before the renewal date. If your GIC term is over 30 days, you will get this alert 21 days before the renewal date, and then again 5 days before.

Promotional rate expiry alert

This alert lets you know that a promotional rate on your account is expiring and reverting back to the posted rate.

Note: If the term for the promotional rate is less than 30 days, you will get the alert 5 days before it expires. If the term for the promotional rate is over 30 days, you will get the alert 21 days before it expires, and then again 5 days before.

Security alerts

These notifications alert you to any changes or events that may be related to the security of your account. We recommend turning all of the security alerts, including:

  • Account locked
  • Contact information changed
  • Password changed
  • Scheduled bill payment failed
  • Scheduled transfer failed

Account alerts

These notifications alert you to your account activities. This can help you keep track of spending, avoid overdraft charges, and more. Depending on the types of accounts you have, these alerts could include:

  • Debit card transaction alert
  • Failed deposit
  • Insufficient funds
  • Upcoming bill payment
  • Available balance

Managing your alerts is easy

You can do it through online banking or the mobile app. Choose which alerts you want to get, plus decide whether you want to get them by email or through the mobile app.
